Thanks for the info, especially the nutritional aspect. I am thinking of some version of HIIT (safely) to eliminate a small gut and augment my other efforts of exercise and diet. It seems HIIT is one tool in the fitness and weight management toolbox. My personal trainer briefly tried this with me 10 years ago, but I did not repeat it. It was useful then and now I understand more about it as part of an overall process. Since then, I have mainly been doing yoga classes a few times a week, 20-30min treadmill intervals, and long, sunny walks with friends in the hills. All this while managing mostly fresh, organic food intake that is largely mediterranean with less carbs (~100g/day) then in my 20's (43 now).
